At IEECP, Esther is Senior Researcher.
Before joining IEECP in 2022, Esther worked for 25 years in the energy business.
She held positions in business development, innovation, and strategy with utilities, commercial suppliers, governments, local energy cooperation, universities, and knowledge institutes. She worked offshore, in London and Scandinavia. In Brussels, she chaired the ETIP SNET working group for Digital Energy and Customer Participation and contributed to the discussion from the perspective of customer and local involvement with the energy communities in mind. She established her company SDG Energy to facilitate the local availability of power.
For IEECP she is involved in projects such as AUDIT2MEASURE, ENERGATE, BETTED and BECoop, and an IEA project about engagement for users. She holds an MSc in Technical Mathematics from Delft University of Technology, a MBA (Sustainable Finance) from the Erasmus University Rotterdam, and was a research fellow in Economics of Infrastructures, at the Faculty of Technology, Policy, and Management at the Delft University of Technology.
She is a Board Member of the energy community 2030.nu and of the cooperation of cooperations SolarParkings. She is engaged to establish renewable energy production in participation with local inhabitants.
