Vlasios Oikonomou

Based in The Netherlands

Dr. Vlasios Oikonomou is an economist, managing director and senior researcher to IEECP.

He has been active in European projects over the past 15 years coordinating a series of EU funded projects (such as the Horizon 2020 ENPOR on energy poverty policy formulations and others and H2020 ENSMOV on the implementation of Article 7 eed). He has also led the EC IEE ENSPOL (Energy Saving Policies and Energy Efficiency Obligation Schemes), H2020 PUBLENEF (on energy efficiency in cities and regions) and he participated in the EC H2020 EPATEE (Evaluation into practice to achieve targets for energy efficiency) and the H2020 SOCIALWATT projects (on energy poverty under the Article 7 EED). He is also working on several other H2020 projects (such as MICAT, STREAMSAVE, PROSPECT, ENEFIRST, SENSEI, TRIPLE-A, DEESME and others) and on evaluation and monitoring projects from the European Commission DG ENERGY on energy efficiency. He has finalised his PhD on interactions of White Certificates energy and climate policy instruments, where he has published a series of articles in books and journals in this field and he is invited as energy efficiency policy expert in various EU policy conferences. He speaks English, Greek, French, and Dutch.
