BETTED

Boosting Energy Transition of The Dairy value chain

February 2024 - January 2027

A LIFE-funded project that will create tailor made tools for the environmental and economic assessment of value chain in the dairy sector.

BETTED aims to facilitate companies (especially small and medium, SMEs) belonging to dairy
supply chains to foster the market uptake of energy efficiency measures including the use of renewables
and the deployment of heat pumps at the value chain level. Specifically, these companies belong to
different stages of the production processes, including secondary activities (from agriculture, livestock
and aquaculture, food processing, packaging, logistics, waste treatment and disposal sectors). To
achieve that, the project will implement capacity building programs and steer companies and value
chains decisions for energy saving investments with support tools. In addition, existing financing
schemes will be assessed, and the optimal ones will be recommended to support the implementation of
measures for the clean energy transition. The project is characterised by its approach to result in action,
thereby both developing a tailor-made toolbox and applying this tool to improve energy efficiency and
sufficiency in the EU for the dairy sector.
