Dr Nives Della Valle is a behavioural economist with over a decade of experience at the intersection of research and policy, focusing on how people engage with energy systems.
Her work bridges behavioural economics and energy policy, with particular attention to energy poverty, energy citizenship, and decision-making. Before joining the IEECP, she was a Policy Analyst at the International Energy Agency, leading analytical work for its People-Centred Clean Energy Transitions programme.
She previously served for five years as a Scientific Officer at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, where she applied behavioural insights to energy policy and contributed to major EU documents on energy poverty and efficiency. Earlier, she was a Senior Researcher at Eurac Research’s Institute for Renewable Energy and a Visiting Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods.
She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Trento and is an editor of Ecological Economics. She is also a member of the Italian Observatory for Energy Poverty and serves on the advisory boards of several EU-funded projects.
