Dr. Faidra Filippidou is an energy systems and climate policy expert with over a decade of
experience in EU energy transition and decarbonisation policies, with a particular focus on the
buildings and industry sectors. Her work combines energy system modelling, emissions
analysis, and policy impact assessment to support evidence-based climate and energy
policymaking.
She has extensive experience at the interface of research and policy, contributing to a wide
range of European projects and studies that inform the design and evaluation of EU climate and
energy frameworks. Her expertise spans energy system modelling, policy impact assessment,
and the analysis of key policy instruments, including emissions trading, energy efficiency
measures, and long-term heating and cooling decarbonisation strategies. She has collaborated
with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including research institutes, European institutions, and
national governments.
Prior to joining IEECP, she spent five years at E3Modelling (part of Ricardo and WSP), where she
served as Unit Director for Buildings and Industry within the PRIMES modelling team. Before
that, she worked for three years as a Scientific Project Officer at the European Commission’s
Joint Research Centre, focusing on heating and cooling transitions and energy markets.
She holds a PhD in energy efficiency in buildings and an MSc in Sustainable Energy Technology,
both from Delft University of Technology.
