About the project
The aim of the BUSINESS2ACT (motivating and empowering Businesses to Act towards the green energy transition) is to support companies in the industrial and service sectors in their clean energy transition pathways by providing them with (and motivating them to use) a series of harmonised tools, templates and methodologies for the adoption of Energy Management Systems (EnMS) and for the uptake of energy savings and renewable energy measures (EEM&REM) recommended in energy audits. To this end, BUSINESS2ACT will develop and test both a methodology for the identification of businesses falling into different thresholds according to Art.11 of the new Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) and an Action Plan template for the uptake of EEM&REM: the template will include important elements, such as identification, quantification and valorisation of the Non-Energy Benefits triggered by the implementation of the measures, assessment of the benefits of digitalisation to improve energy efficiency and sustainability, the role of follow-up systems to support companies after the audit in the concrete implementation of the EEM&REM.
BUSINESS2ACT will involve at least 350 companies and 900 relevant stakeholders (such as standardisation bodies and policy makers responsible for the implementation of the new EED Art. 11) from 15 EU countries, also outside consortium countries, for mutual knowledge exchange and cross-fertilization, to strengthen collaboration among Member States and favour the uptake of project outputs in the EU and national legislation and standards. This will lead to an overall energy saving of 31 GWh/year and a GHG emissions reduction of 18.4 tCO2 eq/year. BUSINESS2ACT is characterised by its action-oriented approach, both by developing new harmonised tools, templates and methodologies and by applying them with companies to promote the adoption of audits results as the cornerstone of companies’ strategic planning towards a successful and effective decarbonisation.
