The European Commission invites EU country authorities, experts and stakeholders to exchange on the implementation of the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) and to discover how LIFE projects are providing policy support and practical tools to facilitate national rollouts.
Following the 2024 EPBD recast, the SRI remains an optional scheme under EU law (Article 15) until the Commission submits a report by 30 June 2026 on the outcomes of national test phases. More details on the legal and technical framework are available online.
This high-level event will
- present the current state of play of SRI implementation across the EU
- showcase concrete Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) implementation support provided to EU countries by LIFE projects, including tools for SRI audits, test phase design and integration with Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
- share national experiences from test phases in Greece, Spain, Cyprus and Italy
- discuss the costs and benefits of SRI for buildings, energy systems and competitiveness
- explore the way forward towards an SRI/EPC cluster, aligning building assessment tools with EU policy objectives
Target audience: representatives of national ministries and agencies responsible for EPBD transposition, the building and energy sectors, LIFE project partners, building auditors, industry stakeholders, and the research community.
This 4th SRI Joint Event is co-organised by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) and the LIFE projects easySRI, SmartSquare, SRI2MARKET, and tunES with participation from sister projects such as DATAWiSE, EPBD.wise, EVELIXIA, iEPB, SmarterEPC, openBEP4EU,OBSERVE.
