Phasing out of coal is arguably unavoidable on a path to a greener future. However, at a time when energy affordability, dependency, and competitiveness become keywords in the European Compass, the transition to a coal-free economy becomes much more than a technical reform supported by generic policies. The principle of leaving no one behind still stands, yet it is clear that a holistic approach is essential to make transitions just.
In line with the pillars of the European Compass – with a particular focus on the promotion of skills and quality jobs and the effort to better coordinate policies at EU and national level, JUSTEM is inviting EC representatives, national and local representatives, policy makers, NGOs, citizen groups, and EU projects for a discussion on impacts and solutions for Just Transitions. Project participants will present research findings, developed tools, and policy recommendations, and engage external social and political actors in honest discussions about energy poverty, employment, gender equality, and community participation.
Attendance is free but registration is required!
