RENOVERTY latest report compiles crucial learnings from the project’s on-the-ground work, providing clear, actionable insights for policymakers and practitioners aiming to accelerate energy efficiency upgrades in vulnerable rural districts.

Accelerating renovation for households affected by energy poverty requires a plan focused on three critical pillars. Based on the work in seven European pilot regions, the report clearly outlines that any successful strategy must incorporate the following aspects:

  • Accessible & Sufficient Funding: Funding must be of sufficient magnitude and readily accessible for low-resource beneficiaries. We identify key opportunities for this, such as leveraging the Social Climate Fund (SCF) and dedicated resources from Local Action Groups (LAGs) via Local Development Strategies (LDS).
  • Dedicated Facilitation: The renovation process is complex, especially for vulnerable households. Success hinges on dedicated support organizations, such as regional One-Stop-Shops (OSS), to guide citizens through the administrative and technical steps.
  • Driving Deeper Renovation: Guidelines must be put in place that encourage households to commit to a solid renovation plan, ensuring they aim for deeper levels of renovation that maximize energy savings and long-term impact on energy poverty alleviation.
