RENOVERTY is releasing two public reports, detailing the successful, bottom-up strategy to tackle energy poverty and accelerate energy efficiency upgrades in vulnerable rural districts across Europe. These twin reports showcase the RENOVERTY project’s holistic approach: demonstrating both the successful engagement of local actors and the effective equipping of them with essential knowledge.

The first report details how RENOVERTY mobilised the entire renovation chain in the seven pilot regions (Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Portugal, and Spain). A core success factor has been the strategic involvement of Local Action Groups (LAGs). These established public-private partnerships are crucial in reaching local stakeholders—from municipalities to citizens—and ensuring the co-creation process for Rural Energy Efficiency Roadmaps (REERs) is grounded in local needs. This report documents the numerous events and workshops held in the last three years, proving that local engagement is the key to minimizing the logistical and administrative burdens of home renovation.

The second report focuses on the comprehensive capacity-building program, designed to overcome informational barriers that often derail renovation projects in rural areas. The training strategy had the dual objective of helping householders make informed choices about renovation, finance, and post-renovation behaviour, and providing municipal staff and LAGs with the skills needed to effectively co-create and implement the REERs.
