CNR is the project coordinator.

What do you like in this project? What do you find most important?

RE-WITCH offers unprecedented opportunities for industries that are still wasting too much energy.

Tell us a bit about your background.

I got a Master’s Degree in Materials Engineering and a PhD in Engineering of Materials and Structures

What brought you into this field? How did you get interest in STEM?

I started gaining interest in physics and chemistry during high school and then decided to start studying engineering, which sounded more practical than physics.

What were some of the challenges you faced as a woman in STEM?

As a matter of fact, I never faced any challenge and actually being only a few women in university courses only brought advantages with it.

Any advice / message for young women in highschool? Why is our sector a great one?

I think everyone should just feel free to study and work in whatever field they like, regardless of gender considerations, so my advice is for all people in high school, to just follow their interest, trying not to get influenced by parents and friends.

What are your hopes for the future of women in STEM (in regards to opportunities, stereotypes, etc.)?

I do not support talking too much about women in STEM, since I do not personally see this as an “awareness campaign”. From my point of view, it is more important to shift the discussion to a truly inclusive environment for everyone, with real credits paid to merit.

Did you have a mentor or inspiration person?

While I was at university, I saw some friends starting their research career and thought about how stressful and not well rewarded it looked, so I thought I would never start it…but here I am, sometimes one has to change their mind.
